Men's Classic Flyweight Bib Shorts - Regular | Rapha Lightweiight Cycling Bib Shorts For Summer riding (2024)

Description

The Flyweight Bib Shorts are designed for riding in hot and humid conditions. The shorts are made of an extremely lightweight, soft four-way stretch fabric - the lightest we’ve used in our bib shorts - that has been treated with coldblack® which reduces the build-up of heat. The upper section has a breathable and lightweight construction, with a thin mesh that stretches to fit over your shoulders. Featuring coloured uppers to pair with the Flyweight Jerseys, allowing you to look - and stay - cool as you take flight in the heat.

“Rapha has been expanding its range of hot weather clothing over the past couple of years, and its new Flyweight Bib Shorts are its coolest and most breathable yet. Along with superb seated comfort from a well-shaped and cushioned padded insert, that makes them a great option for hot summer cycling.”

Rated 4 out of5 byonmyR307 fromA Decent Alternative to Pro Team Flyweight VersionI am a huge fan of any Pro Team “flyweight” items Rapha puts out. I run warm and prefer them from May through part of October in New England. There were no PT FW bibs available (and I have had quality issues with PT FW versions in the past), so I bought these. I am very satisfied overall. However my criticisms are that they run a touch long for me (no short size available), the fabric is not as form fitting as the past PT models (as wood be expected), and due to their less than jet black coloring, when sweating occurs, it is very apparent to the eye. The chamois positioning is strongly preferred over the positioning in the last PT FW version.

Rated 2 out of5 byJamey fromThe lightest of the light with a comfort issueI've always liked the style of the Rapha kits and took the plunge on the Flyweight Bib Shorts primarily for a warm weather set of bibs. The style on the Bib Shorts is fantastic with the subtle, ghosted black-on-black logo. I also like the longer inseam as I'm 6'2" and 185lbs. Fit was pretty neutral for me (XL) and the chamois was comfortable. My issue with the Flyweight Bib Shorts is the suspenders. In their haste to make the bibs as light as possible, Rapha made the most uncomfortable suspenders ever and I don't really know why. I liken the material to mosquito netting. I could wear a base layer to prevent chafing but that defeats the purpose of buying lightweight, breathable, warm-weather Bib Shorts.

Rated 4 out of5 byStacks fromGreat Ventilation! This is my second pair of these. They let so much air flow through that they never feel wet. The perforated chamois is a revelation. Rapha should put in in all their shorts. My only issue is longevity. My first pair are only a few months old and the grippers on the legs is mostly worn out, causing the shorts to ride up. Also these seem to have used glue to hold the suspenders together at the top and is had come undone. The shorts still work but they look like they’re starting to fall apart a little bit. That being said, I ride a lot and also I don’t always hand wash/line dry my shorts like I should. Overall a great product.

Rated 1 out of5 byEwoud_NL fromThe bibs used to be great, but what is this?I own a couple of Rapha Classic Flyweight Bib Shorts, and to full satisfactory so. That's why I ordered two new pairs of them during the last sale. When I started wearing them.... I felt tricked. I couldn't believe this was a authentic Rapha bib. I even checked if I ordered them from a fake Rapha website by mistake. That wasn't the case so apparently Rapha changed the design of a very good product into a not so great product. My two biggest issues are the quality of the chamois and the leg gripper. The chamois doesn't give the support I am used to from this model. And the leg gripper just doesn't work. The bib moves up my leg, making me feel I am cycling in my undies.

Rated 5 out of5 bygrvluvr fromwears better than i expectedWanted to write a review after using and washing the bibs a few times. For a flyweight bib I thought maybe Rapha would have used a less dense pad and I'm happy that they didn't. I'm 5-8 145 lbs and have been wearing the original Pro Team bibs in small. This flyweight in regular length and small is about quarter inch shorter than the Pro Team according to my tan lines. I initially ordered the dark navy but didn't like the white hem around the leg opening and both black and white logos so I exchanged it for the all black colour.

Rated 1 out of5 byjon83 fromPoor qualityThe straps are not stitched and are very poor quality. After wearing 3 times the straps became frayed and lost shape. Also after more than 5 washes lots of dye still coming out. Not comparable to the pro team or classic bibshorts. Very disappointing.

Rated 3 out of5 byPiotrL fromBelow my expectationsThis is my first pair of bibs from Rapha, I have decided to give a try as so many seems to be very happy with it. Well, I'm not one of them. I don't find these bibs very comfortable, the biggest issue I have is the design. They have sawing seam just in the middle of the crotch. All my bibs have such seam, but somehow this one is bigger and making these bibs not comfortable to wear.Otherwise quality and the material are very good. For reference I'm 196 cm, 100kg, got size XL. Bibs fits well, however i found them short compared with other brands (castelli, specialized, endura) I have.

Are the leg grippers the same as on the previous lightweight shorts, or are they similar to those found on the classic shorts?

Asked by: Psychonabike

The grippers features are a silicon dot pattern as featured in the Classic Bibs

How much more breathable are these compared to the Classic Bib shorts, (former iteration)?

Asked by: theantichristy

Hi, these are constructed from a lighter material with a mesh upper on the bib area so they will be cooler on hot summer days.

HiI’m 6ft 2, 32inch wast and 34inch leg. What size do you recommend and do you think the regular length is long enough in the leg? Cheers

Asked by: Cowhead

Hi, because fit is not just dependent on height and weight but mostly on each body shape and customer's personal preference to how customer's prefer garments to fit, it is hard for us to be exact in sizing advice. From the measurements you gave us it seems you may be best suited a Medium and should you need to exchange or refund, we have a 90 days return period for new/unused garments with tags and in saleable condition.
